The diet and weight loss industry is enormous. Practically every day some diet guru has a new book or dvd or eating program or exercise gadget to flood the public in an attempt to make as much money from the people who need help.

No matter what your opinion about this industry is, it is a common fact that there is more junk being sold than people need. A lot of the books and diet plans and a rehash of the existing work of others. It just gets some polish and a new marketing plan or some other spin in order to try and capture the attention of the diet world.

So, if this info is all a rehash, what is the original best answer for losing weight. You probably won’t like the answer but it simply is ‘eat less and move more’. No matter where you are as far as weight gain and exercise history, if you were to simply eat less calories and get more exercise, you cannot help but lose weight.

Now, this is a very high level answer but if you take it to heart, this might be enough to get you going. To eat less calories, you don’t always need to ‘diet’ or restrict your food intake. It can be as simple as eating MORE low calorie foods. For example, start every meal with a salad. If you eat a nice big salad before lunch and dinner with a low calorie dressing or none at all, you will save hundreds of potential calories at each meal. Add more fresh fruit and raw veggies and you have an easy way to eat more food but save on the calories.

Same applies for exercise. Obviously you need to consult a doctor before you begin an exercise program but you need to get moving. The most consistent and successful weight loss programs have always included exercise as a long term ingredient. Without exercise, you are fighting the odds of achieving your goals.

No matter where you are, how healthy you are, how overweight you are or what your weight loss goals are, you just need to move more and eat less to get healthier and to lose weight.
