Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Are Fleas driving your dog crazy??? Your dog can pick up fleas virtually anywhere. You can even bring them home to your dog. After visiting a friend of mines house that has 3 cats, I had to be the carrier of fleas to my home. Before I new it my dog was scratching and itching like crazy. I flip her over and yup, she had a flea run and hide in her hair. What to do now?

First I gave her a bath. That seemed to get ride of some fleas but they were back in no time. Then I decide to go purchase some flea control at the pet store. I decided to try Frontline after I asked a few other dog owners what worked best for them. With in 2 hours I noticed that I did not see anymore fleas. I was really impressed. Right after I applied the Frontline my dog ran around my house rolling on the ground trying to get the medicine off. What she didn’t know is that in a few hours she would be flea free. Frontline last around 4 weeks. I usually don’t apply unless I see them since my dog is not usually outside much. You may have a different situation. Check out my blog for more info and good deals on flea control. Flea medacine I once heard that if you put garlic in your dog food it will drive the fleas away. Who knows if thats true???

Also if you have any good flea remedies that work for you, I would love to here them. Feel free to post your story on my dog blog.

3 Things To Consider When Purchasing Your Outdoor Fireplace Grill

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

An Outdoor Fireplace Grill adds a classic feel and charm to the garden, patio, pool area setting for parties, gatherings and romantic evenings. In some cooler regions it may even be considered a critical piece of al fresco furniture. One thing I above all like about an outdoor fireplace grill is that it can speedily and without problems be converted into a out-of-doors fireplace.

When it comes to purchasing your Outdoor Fireplace Grill there are 3 vital things you should consider.

1/. How are they fuelled?

The more well-liked models of outdoor fireplace grills offered are fuelled with wood, charcoal gas or propane. A most important concern when choosing your grill will be the level of cooking and cleaning up after the fact that you want to do. It goes without saying that a wood fired grill will need even more cleaning compared to a gas grill.

2/. How does it cook?

A further feature to care about is how they cook. Some outdoor fireplace grills cook food exactly above the flame, whereas others utilize indirect heat by means of an oven. There are even models where food is placed under the cooking grid and heat is applied via a suitable burning source.

3/. What substance is it made from?

There are several distinctive styles and finishes offered when it comes to outdoor fireplace grills. Generally they are made of stainless steel or other heavy-duty material. While stainless steel does appear to be good it comes with a hefty price tag. Usually the more stainless steel the more expensive. It also requires proper cleaning to keep looking pristine. Porcelain coated cooking grids can be a problem.

Here are some other things you may like to watch for:

Is the area you cook in cramped? Or do you only cook for two or three people? If either of these are an issue you may find a portable outdoor fireplace grill a more suitable alternative. These also come in a range of shapes and are expressly designed for open-air enjoyment for individuals with restricted room in mind. Size is mostly determined by the amount of wheels.

When selecting a charcoal burning outdoor fireplace grill attempt to find one that has the grate running the complete length of the grill. This will permit you to control the heat with no trouble.

Being able to see into a wood burning fireplace grill has extra charm. So be certain to pick out one with a generous glass viewing area and polished brass finish glass doors. Because wood produces more soot choosing a stone or cast iron material is best. Apart from being made from a durable material they will not damage like stainless steel. Be certain to add in some shield against flying pieces of wood. Having a wider inner area is worthwhile for stress-free loading of burning substances.

NB Do they have ash catchers for effortless clean-up, and chimneys with rain caps. Are fire tools supplied?

Gas outdoor fireplace grills are easy to operate fireplace grills with variable safety valve controls. Gas outdoor fireplaces grills are best made from stainless steel burners and lids. For the budget minded choose a metallic enamel appearance on top lids and bottom bowls. Generally speaking these are far easier to handle and look after.

Owning an Outdoor Fireplace Grill is a great investment in your lifestyle enjoyment.

Things you can update in your kitchen for better value

The kitchen is the heart of the home and when it comes to getting the most bang for your home improvement buck not much tops the work you can do in the kitchen. Here are some of the things you can focus on (small and large) to improve your house value.

1. Refacing kitchen cabinets – this is a biggie. It can be expensive, although if you do the work yourself it’s much more cost effective. You can get stock cabinets or custom made ones. You could even just replace the doors or repaint them and it would still made a visual improvement.

2. Add kitchen island cart – this one can be fun, but only if you have the space for it. If the middle of your kitchen isn’t big enough, or the layout just doesn’t lend itself to this, then you could also get a kitchen island cart and gain the additional storage and workspace without doing anything permanent.

3. New undermount kitchen sinks – your old one could have stains you don’t even know are there because you just got used to that yucky color. You can take out your sink and put in a nice new one, stainless steel is the new rage.

Overall there is great satisfaction in redoing your kitchen and these are a few of the ways you can do that. Watch for our other posts about this topic as well.
